*Invocation
*Hymn 34 “The God of Abraham Praise”
1 The God of Abraham praise, who reigns enthroned above, Ancient of everlasting days and God of love.
Jehovah! Great I AM! by earth and heav'n confessed; I bow and bless the sacred name, forever blest.
2 The God of Abraham praise, at whose supreme command from earth I rise, and seek the joys at his right hand. I all on earth forsake, its wisdom, fame, and pow'r, and him my only portion make, my shield and tow'r.
3 He by himself hath sworn, I on his oath depend; I shall, on eagles' wings upborne, to heav'n ascend, I shall behold his face, I shall his pow'r adore,
and sing the wonders of his grace forevermore.
4 The goodly land I see, with peace and plenty blest, a land of sacred liberty and endless rest.
There milk and honey flow, and oil and wine abound, and trees of life forever grow, with mercy crowned.
5 There dwells the Lord our King, the Lord our Righteousness, triumphant o'er the world and sin, the Prince of Peace. On Zion's sacred height his kingdom he maintains, and glorious with his saints in light forever reigns.
6 The whole triumphant host gives thanks to God on high; "Hail, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!" they ever cry. Hail Abraham's God and mine! I join the heav'nly lays; all might and majesty are thine, and endless praise.
*Call to Confession Rev. Nathan Titus

Words of Assurance
*The Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
*2nd Sunday Confession of Faith
(Adapted from The Ligonier Statement on Christology)
We believe in and confess the mystery and wonder of God made flesh and rejoice in our great salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord.
With the Father and the Holy Spirit, the Son created all things, sustains all things, and makes all things new. Truly God, He became truly man, two natures in one person.
He was born of the Virgin Mary and lived among us. Crucified, dead, and buried, He rose on the third day, ascended to heaven, and will come again in glory and judgment.
For us, He kept the Law, atoned for sin, and satisfied God’s wrath.
He is our Prophet, Priest, and King, building His church, interceding for us, and reigning over all things. Jesus Christ is Lord; we praise His holy Name forever. Amen.
Psalter Reading (Psalm 68) Page 808-09
May God arise, may his enemies be scattered; may his foes flee before him.
As smoke is blown away by the wind, may you blow them away;
as wax melts before the fire, may the wicked perish before God.
But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful.
Sing to God, sing praise to his name, extol him who rides on the clouds—
his name is the LORD—and rejoice before him.
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.
God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
When you went out before your people, O God, when you marched through the wasteland,
the earth shook, the heavens poured down rain, before God, the One of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel.
You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance.
Your people settled in it, and from your bounty, O God, you provided for the poor.
The Lord announced the word, and great was the company of those who proclaimed it;
“Kings and armies flee in haste; in the camps men divide the plunder.”
“Even while you sleep among the campfires, the wings of my dove are sheathed with silver, its feathers with shining gold.”
When the Almighty scattered the kings in the land, it was like snow fallen on Zalmon.
The mountains of Bashan are majestic mountains; rugged are the mountains of Bashan.
Why gaze in envy, O rugged mountains, at the mountain where God chooses to reign, where the LORD himself will dwell forever?
The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands; the Lord has come from Sinai into this sanctuary.
When you ascended on high, you led captives in your train; you received gifts from men, even from the rebellious—that you, O LORD God, might dwell there.
Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.
Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign LORD comes escape from death.
Pastoral Prayer and Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Offertory “Be Thou My Vision” A. Parker (St Stephen Choir – text, Trinity Hymnal 642)
Sermon Text Mark 5:35-43 Page 840
Sermon “Faith in Jesus in the Face of Hopelessness” (Part 2) Dr. Drew DiNardo
*Closing Hymn 274 “Thine Be the Glory”
1 Thine be the glory, risen, conqu'ring Son;
endless is the vict'ry thou o’er death hast won;
angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away,
kept the folded grave clothes where thy body lay.
Refrain:
Thine be the glory, risen conqu'ring Son;
endless is the vict'ry thou o’er death hast won.
2 Lo! Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb;
lovingly he greets us, scatters fear and gloom;
let the church with gladness, hymns of triumph sing; for her Lord now liveth, death hath lost its sting. [Refrain]
3 No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life;
life is naught without thee; aid us in our strife;
make us more than conqu'rors, thro' thy deathless love; bring us safe thro' Jordan to thy home above. [Refrain]
*Benediction
*Congregation Three-fold Amen
*Postlude “Piece d’Orgue” J.S. Bach
