*Hymn of Praise #286 “Worship Christ, the Risen King!”
1 Rise, O church, and lift your voices, Christ has conquered death and hell. Sing as all the earth rejoices; resurrection anthems swell.
Come and worship, come and worship, worship Christ, the risen King!
2 See the tomb where death had laid him, empty now, its mouth declares:
"Death and I could not contain him, for the throne of life he shares." Come and worship, come and worship, worship Christ, the risen King!
3 Hear the earth protest and tremble, see the stone removed with pow'r; all hell's minions may assemble, but cannot withstand his hour. He has conquered, he has conquered, Christ the Lord, the risen King!
J.S. Bach
4 Doubt may lift its head to murmur, scoffers mock and sinners jeer; but the truth proclaims a wonder thoughtful hearts received with cheer. He is risen, he is risen,
now receive the risen King!
5 We acclaim your life, O Jesus, now we sing your victory; sin or hell may seek to seize us, but your conquest keeps us free.
Stand in triumph, stand in triumph,
worship Christ, the risen King!
Communion Sunday Confession of Faith (Apostle's Creed)
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried, he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
(*catholic does not refer to the Roman Catholic church, but
means "universal" or "whole". It refers to the Church's presence and mission across all time and space, not just a specific historical period.)
Intercessory Prayer & Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
forever. Amen.

*Hymn of Response #310
"Rejoice, the Lord is King”
1 Rejoice, the Lord is King:
your Lord and King adore!
Rejoice, give thanks, and sing, and triumph evermore.
Refrain:
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice! Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!
2 Jesus the Savior reigns, the God of truth and love; when he had purged our stains, he took his seat above. [Refrain]
3 His kingdom cannot fail, he rules o'er earth and heav'n; the keys of death and hell are to our Jesus giv'n. [Refrain]
4 He sits at God's right hand till all his foes submit,
and bow to his command,
and fall beneath his feet. [Refrain]
5 Rejoice in glorious hope! Our Lord, the Judge, shall come, and take his servants up
to their eternal home. [Refrain]
A Reading from God's Law (Exodus 20:1-17) with a Confession of Sin from the Psalms
And God spoke all these words: I am the Lord your God... You shall have no other gods before me.
Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight. (Psalm 51:4)
You shall not make for yourself an idol. . . . You shall not bow down to them or worship them.
Come, let us bow down in worship; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker, for he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. (Psalm 95:6)
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. (Psalm 51:15)
Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty! Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere. (Psalm 84:10)
Honor your father and your mother.
Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you are good, O Lord. (Psalm 25:7)
You shall not murder.
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me. (Psalm 139:23)
You shall not commit adultery.
You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence. (Psalm 90:8)
You shall not steal.
Have mercy on me, O God... blot out my transgressions. (Psalm 51:1)
You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me through your law. (Psalm 119:29)
You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. (Psalm 119:36)
The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. (Psalm 145:18)
My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise his holy name forever and ever. (Psalm 145:21)
Assurance of Pardon
*Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it
was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.
*Hymn of Communion Praise Book #12
He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities;
"He Was Pierced..."
the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.
We all like sheep have gone a-stray,
each of us has turned to his own way
and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
The Lord's Supper
(All Bread is Gluten Free)
*Closing Hymn Praise Book #18 "In the Cross of Christ I Glory”
1 In the cross of Christ I glory,
Tow'ring o'er the wrecks of time;
All the light of sacred story Gathers round its head sublime.
2 When the woes of life o'ertake me, Hopes deceive, and fears annoy, Never shall the cross forsake me, Lo! it glows with peace and joy.
3 When the sun of bliss is beaming
Light and love upon my way,
From the cross the radiance streaming Adds more luster to the day.
4 Bane and blessing, pain and pleasure,
By the cross are sanctified;
Peace is there that knows no measure, Joys that through all time abide.
*Benediction
*Congregation Three-fold Amen
