“Dies sind die heilgen zehn Gebot” (BWV 635) J.S. Bach (These are the holy ten commandments)

*Call to Worship (Adapted from Psalm 96:1-4)
One: Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth!
All: Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all the peoples!
One: For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.
Invocation
*Hymn 103 “Holy God, We Praise Your Name”
1 Holy God, we praise your name;
Lord of all, we bow before you;
all on earth your scepter claim,
all in heav'n above adore you.
Infinite your vast domain,
everlasting is your reign.
2 Hark, the glad celestial hymn
angel choirs above are raising;
cherubim and seraphim
in unceasing chorus praising,
fill the heav'ns with sweet accord:
"Holy, holy, holy Lord."
3 Lo! the apostolic train
join your sacred name to hallow;
prophets swell the glad refrain,
and the white-robed martyrs follow;
and from morn to set of sun,
through the church the song goes on.
4 Holy Father, Holy Son,
Holy Spirit, Three we name you;
while in essence only One,
undivided God we claim you,
and adoring bend the knee,
while we sing this mystery.
Call to Confession Rev. Nathan Titus
Time of Silent Confession
Words of Assurance
*The Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
*3rd Sunday Confession of Faith (Heidelberg Catechism Q&A #1) Q. What is your only comfort in life and in death?
- That I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Therefore, by his Holy Spirit, he also assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.
Psalter Reading (Psalm 62) Page 806
My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
How long will you assault a man?
Would all of you throw him down–this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
They fully intend to topple him from his lofty place; they take delight in lies.
With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse.
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
Lowborn men are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie; If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together, they are only a breath.
Do not trust in extortion or take pride in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.
One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving. Surely you will reward each person according to what he has done.
Musical Offering “Sacred Harp Medley” arr. B. Adams (Richard Amoroso, cello)
Pastoral Prayer and Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Offertory “Meditation” from Thais J. Massenet (Richard Amoroso, cello)
*Doxology
Sermon Text Mark 3:20-35 Page 838
Sermon “The Family of Christ” Dr. Drew DiNardo
*Closing Hymn 359 “Blest Be the Tie That Binds”
1 Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love: the fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above.
2 Before the Father's throne we pour our ardent prayers; our fears, our hopes, our aims are one, our comforts and our cares.
3 We share our mutual woes, our mutual burdens bear, and often for each other flows the sympathizing tear.
4 When we asunder part, it gives us inward pain;
but we shall still be joined in heart, and hope to meet again.
5 This glorious hope revives our courage by the way, while each in expectation lives, and longs to see the day.
6 From sorrow, toil and pain, and sin, we shall be free; and perfect love and friendship reign through all eternity.
*Benediction
*Congregation Three-fold Amen
*Postlude Chorale in E major C. Franck
