Author and Speaker Georgia Shaffer Will Guide Women on Growing through Unwanted Changes
Georgia Shaffer, author of the newly revised A Gift of Mourning Glories: Restoring Your Life After Loss, will speak Saturday, May 6, 2017 at St. Stephen Reformed Church PCA, 249 E. Main Street, New Holland, Pennsylvania. Women of all ages are invited to attend this free event from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
Georgia’s presentation is titled “Growing Through the Changes We Do Not Choose.” She will guide women through a practical five-step approach to move from hurt toward healing. If you, or someone you know, are dealing with a loss and having trouble coping or beginning anew, come hear Georgia’s tips. She understands. She has suffered many losses. She speaks from her heart.
Her very life is a testimony of the power of God to turn heartache into beauty and hope. She surmounted breast cancer, a bone marrow transplant, and the loss of her job and her marriage. Georgia’s story along with her photos are featured in the film Letters to God. Over twenty-five years ago Georgia was given a 2 percent chance to be alive in 10 years after a recurrence of breast cancer. “At that time my son, Kyle, was only 8 years old,” she said, “which meant I had a 2 percent chance to see him graduate from high school.” But God not only allowed her to see his high school graduation but also his college graduation and his wedding.
“With honesty, humor, and grace, Georgia draws lessons from the losses of life. I loved her candor and was moved by her courage,” Patsy Clairmont, national speaker and author, said. “I believe you will be too.”
In addition to being the author of five books, Georgia is Executive Director of Mourning Glory Ministries. You may have heard her Mourning Glory Minute on WJTL and WDAC radio stations. She is also a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania, and a professional certified coach who works with clients across the United States. She served for three years as producer and interviewer for the TV program Faith is Alive. When Georgia isn’t coaching, speaking or writing, she enjoys working in her backyard garden in York.
