The steeple was lifted by very skilled workmen; fitting the weathervane rod into a very small square hole. Further work is needed to paint, install the lighting, etc. Please join us for the dedication on June 12, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. to see the "Beacon of Light" The New Holland Band will play. We are excited to see the replica in place. The seating will be in the Trinity Lutheran Parking area facing St. Stephen. More information and photos forthcoming.

5/10/16: The spire will be lifted at 6:30 a.m. if the weather permits.
5/09/16, 0930: The lantern was skillfully lifted to the tower. The wind prevented the lifting of the spire.
5/6/16 The crane should arrive Monday morning, May 9th. around 8:00 A.M. and they hope to be ready for the lift between 9:00 and 10:00 A.M.
5/3/16 Due to weather the lifting of the steeple to the tower has been changed to Monday, May 9 and 10th. It will take two days. The scaffolding is in place and they are working to prepare for the placement of the steeple.
4/26/16 Update: The steeple restoration project is nearing completion. The work on the lantern is complete with the exception of the final paint coat. That is scheduled to be completed by the end of this week. The spire is done and ready to be lifted to it final resting place. There will be scaffolding erected from the ground up extending above the top of the bell tower for the men to work off of when they raise the lantern and the spire. The inside of the bell tower will be painted after the lantern and spire are in place. A narrow roof at the bottom of the lantern and over the top of the bell tower will be constructed after the lift is completed. The contractor indicated that it will take approximately two weeks after the lift takes place to complete the project. The actual lift is scheduled for WEDNESDAY MAY 4 sometime around 10:00 A.M. barring any unforeseen problems or bad weather. If there is any change in this date we will be notified and we’ll attempt to inform you of the changes at soon as possible.
Originally the steeple was to be brought down in two sections. The spire was to be separate from the lantern and brought down followed by the lantern. Unfortunally the wood frame structure in the spire was so badly rotted that it had to be dismantled and brought down in pieces. After reinforcing the lantern they were able to lift it down intact. The lantern is now on the ground where work will begin to rebuild it. There is considerable deterioration to the wood work which will have to be repaired before the azek material can be applied. The spire will have to be completely rebuilt, however, there is a possibility that a prefabricated spire can be located. The contractor is presently exploring this option. Because of the extensive work that will have to be done and the limited time before the winter weather sets in curtailing their work, the completion time could extend into next spring. For those who were unable to witness the crane lowering of the lantern, it was a spectacular site and it went very well. Within three hours after the crane arrived he had completed the lift and was ready to leave.
01/06/16 Steeple Update:
The masons have completed their work and the tower is now ready for replacing the lantern when the work on it is completed. They were able to reuse the old bricks for which we are thankful. The work on the new lantern continues and as long as the weather cooperates they will continue to work. Presently they are in the process of covering the structure with the Azek material. Because of the intricate architecture of the lantern this is very time consuming and all though it seems to be taking long they are moving along very well. The spire, which they will be building at another location, is still waiting to be started due to some difficulties with the use of different types of materials. They hope to be starting it in the near future, As for a completion date, none has been set.. There are many factors that can effect this date and realistically the contractor does not want to make a commitment that raises unreasonable expectations. At this point we are hoping for some time in early spring;
